I mean idgaf about her myself and personally I'm a little disturbed by some of the misogyny her mere existence is stirring up among fans but the rejoicing around these parts will be epic
like the equivalent of people teeming in the streets, chanting, "DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!"
I think if the actress hadn't overblown the importance of her character so much that people wouldn't be as put off by her. Overall, people are just really annoyed that some newcomer could be that important, or important at all, this late in the game.
I had this conversation with buongiornodaisy and we do find it a little off-putting that the vitriol spat at Zoe/Sheila Kelley is so intense. It kind of boggles the mind. And less anger was shown to Dogen and Lennon. Does this have to do with the fact that Zoe is a woman? Have LOST viewers become skeptical of women entering the scene?
I'm leaning towards yes. Because people have been downright violent towards Zoe. The other new characters that have been men? No. I don't think this is a coincidence.
And less anger was shown to Dogen and Lennon. I don't think I saw a single interview from John Hawkes and 1-2 max from Hiro Sanada, and they made it fairly obvious that he wouldn't be around too long so I do think Sheila Kelley caused a lot of the vitriol with her interviews. I'm trying to remember if a new male character ever acted that assy in interviews in order to compare it to their character's treatment, but I'm drawing a blank.
Whatever, maybe I just don't see it because I hate a lot of these new dudes and chicks equally, and Zoe reminds me of a cheap Faraday copy so yeah...
No, my least favorite new characters of all time have been Cesar and Lennon. But they got rid of them in a timely matter. I would seriously spend every episode post complaining about Cesar if he was still around.
Also the reason I dislike Zoe/Sheila Kelley is because Sheila Kelley is insanely stuck-up in her interviews. And I don't want anyone new being that important this late in the game.
I think Sheila Kelley made a mistake with that interview, but it doesn't change my disinterest in Zoe into dislike. I just don't care. And if she is important (which I somehow may doubt), then let's hope the writers can navigate the plot gracefully.
Whatever. I just don't care about hating characters at this point. I'm just going along for the ride. And I think that the intense, intense, intense things that have been said about Zoe make me go, "Whoa. Wow."
I really doubt she's that important. Like she might be a little important but if she's the key I would be really surprised and pissed off.
It's not that I hate characters, it's that I hate people being introduced this far into the endgame. But hopefully she'll have a satisfying death. And yeah, definitely. This is the internet though. Everything is hyperbolic. Doesn't make it right, I just have become desensitized to it.
Well, don't worry, I haven't seen anything particularly disturbing coming from your comments. But other commenters are just going wild and I want to throw pounds of Xanax at them and tell them to be cool.
I bet it is Claire. Smokey and Claire have a bond, maybe Widmore wants to make Smokey mad by killing Claire. That would explain the wait, wait. But I hope not, too much killing of the females is done by this show.
lololol not like I expect anything better from Show at this point tbh :/
idk though I always thought Claire was just a ~pawn in Smokey's game, but he can't be blamed~ ♫ like do you really think he gaf about her? Dude's pretty cold
it had better not be Penny mister >:(
