I don't understand these theories that the Ajira plane landed in the past. Well, okay, I do - particularly the bit with the recording still transmitting from the island - but it feels weird to me, like something is missing there.

I'm not objecting to the theory, but I'm not quite sure how it works or what the point is of the Ajirans ALSO being in the past and/or in an alternate universe.

As Frank is doing his Sully Sullenberger impression, the radio in the plane picks up what seems to be Danielle's transmission that we haven't heard since Season 1 or 2004. The plane takes off in 2008, the last event on the timeline.

The timeline previously places Frank's landing in 2007, which still doesn't work if that is, in fact, Danielle's original transmission that we heard because Danielle stopped the transmission in 2004.

well the bottom part is speculation and the top is canon

True, I'm just noticing that that bit of speculation is either off or pointing out something really weird.

Even if Ajira lands NOW, it's weird because of the transmission.

Ajira couldn't have landed in the past since Richard said it had been 3 years since he had seen Locke and detailed how exactly Locke disappeared during the first 04 flash. The alternate reality theory is somewhat interesting but would complicate things too much so I guess you can posit that someone, probably Claire, went to the radio tower and is rebroadcasting the transmission now that no one is blocking it.

Now that is a theory that interests me. I'm rocking this hunch that in addition to everything else, Other Guy reeeeally wants off the island. Drawing attention to it might help that.

Plus, it's likely that the runway was the one on Hydra that the Others had Sawyer and Kate "breaking rocks for."

What doesn't place with me and that theory is that when Sun and Frank went to the main island and Dharmaville, they found the place a wreck... And what I don't get is how does that place with the rest of it all?

If it really was in the past, then it makes no sense because the Others were living there by then. And if it was after they went to the temple, then the transmission was no longer looping then!

I can't wait to find out if that is a) bad continuity, b) evidence of an alternate timeline or c) evidence of time travel.
Or d), the Surprise Option!
