Oh! For some reason I thought it was still up in the air whether she'd be coming back or not. So she really was killed in the explosion? I guess I'm behind the times on spoilers.

This is pretty much the first article that has said it directly. It could just be their wording, of course, but I tagged it just to be safe.

Well from what I have gathered and understood from all the stuff I have read (analysed, rambled and obsessed about) since the finale aired ... Originally Darlton had planned that the beating jughead till it exploded/or not scene was to be the last we would see Elizabeth Mitchell in in LOST, but then something happened (fan reaction, or whatever makes Darlton do what they do) and they decided to bring her back.
So I reckon since she is talking about her initial reaction after learning she was going to be "killed off", this doesn't necessarily mean that they have put the nails in her coffin just yet, since it was before Darlton changed their mind or something.

Yes, I'm obsessed.

I think Liz was always going to come back as a guest star in season 6. They're bringing back everyone else and their mothers so it's hard to believe they wouldn't have asked her too. But because of the fan reaction to La Fleur they extended her appearance for a little longer. She is definitely not a full time cast member this time around though.
I know she gave a percentage in an interview of how much screen time she will get in the final season. I'm thinking 20% but don't quote me on that. Maybe someone else here has the exact number she said.

It's my personal opinion that she's definitely dead. The writers first said her character's story had come to it's "natural conclusion" (This is also backed by her having been the only character Jacob didn't visit which suggests she's not part of whatever big plan he has) but then decided to be ambiguous for the cliffhanger's sake. Then Jack Bender stated that she is dead in an interview.

Anyway, who knows. It's LOST after all. We'll just have to wait and see.

I am so with you in the jearing forever. :(
Hold on while I drown myself in a puddle of my own jears.

I still refuse to believe she's dead until they actually state it on LOST. I know Bender outright said she was dead, but I don't understand why Darlton won't let her reveal if she's alive or dead. I mean if Bender already said it...

Unless they changed their minds about that. You never know. This is LOST we're talking about.

That can always be rectified.
Jacob couldn't have been there when she was told her parents are getting a divorce, that would have been weird.
So I'm thinking there's a missing scene after she stormed out of the room.
Maybe somewhere in a park.

Otherwise her flashback would have been stupid.
I choose to believe there's more to her story, and that they changed their mind after the fan reaction.

I think Jacob was there (without a body) at the bottom of the tunnel and that's why she didn't die from the fall.

I'm pretty sure the number she said was 1/10th to 2/10ths of the season. Which, if we're going episode-number-wise, would be anywhere from 2 to 4 episodes.
