I've made my feelings about Kate pretty clear here before, but in short:
I've always seen her as a total Mary Sue. She can do everything (hunting deer with her dad twenty years ago = expert tracker? OKAY THEN), and every one just seems to be drawn to her without good reason. Even the friggin' Marshal was obsessed with her.
When someone doesn't agree with her, she throws a strop or completely turns on them for it.
She let innocent people get hurt just so she could get a toy plane. Yes it had sentimental value blah blah but at she had the memories, why let others die just so she could feel good about something? I have sentimental attachments to lots of things, and I would be pissed if I lost them, but it wouldn't change the memories or feelings attached to those objects.
Her mother wasn't a freak, she was human, and made very human mistakes. Was it wrong of her to want to stay with an abusive man? Yes. Was it wrong of her to choose her husband over her daughter? Yes. Was it the only decision she was capable of making because she is who she is? Yes. Millions of women the world over make that mistake every day, because they just don't think they deserve better. An abused woman with low self-esteem does not = freak.
I'm not even going to touch the triangle, I think it's great that Sawyer finally realised he wasn't in love with her any more and Jack would rather blow up the Island than live with the memories of the hurt she caused him.
She has never really been punished for her crimes - what did she do when she left the island? Got a ridiculous slap on the wrist, went off and lived in a big house with nice clothes and a nanny, and played mommy to someone else's child. She got everything she ever wanted, never mind the lives she ruined with bank robberies/lying/running.
I could go on and on but I get the feeling you just desperately want to prove us all wrong and any reply you have posted in the past has been incredibly defensive. If you like Kate, fine, but there's no way that after five seasons I'm going to change my mind, unless the writers give her a complete personality overhaul in s6.

YES this is one of the things that annoys me the most about her! She never has to face consequences for her actions, which is what makes her character so hard to relate to.
Alright, maybe Diane isn't a freak, she just creeps me out in the robotic way she talks and how she won't even try to understand what Kate might've gone through seeing her being abused.
Sawyer is still in love with Kate, that's why he stared at her like that at the end of LaFleur and why he looked at her when Bernard said "We just want to be together forever". It's also why Juliet dumped him.
Kate caused Jack hurt? When? From what I've seen he made her cry a lot more than she ever did.
I agree she wasn't punished for her crimes and I also agree the toy plane thing was ridiculous. But TV is tv...
I think the cage incident comes to mind. xD Aside from that, I'm drawing a blank. Maybe others can come up with examples, but that's the only one I personally can think of.
...how is that Kate's fault? Yes, it hurt him but I'm sure it hurt her when he screamed at her minutes before, too. She can sleep with whoever she wants, the others totally set it up for him to see that, any way.

Sorry, I didn't mean that to come off as a 'THIS IS ANOTHER ONE OF HER FLAWS LOOKIE LOOKIE' way. You asked, and that's what I came up with. My bad.
