Hi all! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for your weekly speculation post. The season is almost over. Episode 10, "Turning the Tides," will air this Saturday, June 16. Synopses from last week tell us that Equalists will start attacking Republic City. Book One's hour-long finale, featuring episodes 11 and 12, "Skeletons in the Closet" and "Endgame," will air the week after, Saturday, June 23. As of yet, we do not have any summaries or descriptions. Nickelodeon aired
a minute-long trailer after last week's episode, and has posted
a shorter version of that trailer (with a couple longer or different shots) on Korra Nation's Tumblr. We also have a
TV spot and
a clip from "Turning the Tides."

Book Two storyboards.
Thanks to the pre-released material (trailers, clips, and descriptions), we know that there will be some major, rather high-tech battles against the Equalists (who appear to have planes of their own, in addition to the mechas and electric gloves). We also know that they will be invading Air Temple Island (and probably taking it, if the line of people being debended by what looks like the dock is any indication), and Korra and Mako will infiltrate an Equalist facility of some sort. Things are shaping up to be very exciting!
- If the Equalists take Air Temple Island, where will Korra and her friends, Tenzin and his family, and the Air Acolytes go to take shelter in the meantime, assuming they aren't captured? And since cloudbaby #4 has yet to make its grand entrance, who wants to bet Pema's going to go into labor at the most inconvenient time possible?
- Tarrlok is the first major character to lose his bending (sorry, I don't consider Tahno a major character). Do you see either of the brothers, Lin, Tenzin, or the airbender kids getting debended? Who do you think is most likely? And while the trailer shows Amon about to take Korra's bending away, do you think it'll actually happen? It seems to be fandom consensus that she's going to go Avatar State when her eyes reopen - do you agree?
- It seems pretty much a given at this point that Mako and Asami are going to break up, since the end of the last episode made abundantly clear he still has strong feelings for Korra. How do you see that scenario playing out? (And this is purely a personal request, but can we keep the Mako-bashing to a minimum, please? There's been plenty of criticism in previous posts, and if you're so inclined you can definitely make another post to discuss it, but this is a post for speculating about what's going to happen, not critiquing character/ship development). Do you think Korra and Mako will hook up before season's end, or will that be pushed to Book Two?
- Are we done with Tarrlok? Is there more to the Yakone flashback than Korra realizes? Will we find out how they learned to bloodbend without the full moon? Will Korra actually communicate with Aang's spirit rather than seeing his visions?
- What precisely is Amon's endgame? How will Korra and her allies win back Republic City from the Equalists? Fire Nation involvement? How will Korra defeat Amon? (Because, lbr, she's got a Book Two coming up and Mike has implied that the Amon arc will be wrapped up at the end of this season, so she's not going to lose.)
- Dante Basco's character will show up in episode 11. What do you think his role will be? Will we see old man Zuko? Think Katara will put in a reappearance? We also know Rob Paulsen is voicing a character that has not shown up yet - any ideas on that?
- Hiroshi Sato is on Bryan's poster - what role will he play in the finale? Will Asami confront her father personally?
- Bolin appears to be facing off against some mechas in the trailer. He's not dressed in Equalist garb and running around the compound with Korra and Mako, so what is he doing instead?
- Any other thoughts?
Speculate away!
