I am unbelievably glad that this show is airing now that I'm an adult, rather than when I was a kid, because so many of the best things about this show would be flying right over my head.

mte. this show is a lot darker and mature than i thought it would be and it. is. awesome.

Yesterday I was fangirling with my bff about korra and she went: "Maybe they made them a firebender and waterbender to make up fans...." and I was like "DON'T EVEN FINISH THAT. NO. NOPE. NADA"

GIF speaks the truth. I disliked Zutara and totally love Makorra and feel like Makorra is so different, third episode really proved that.

I don't like either, but they're super different. Starting from Korra being zero like Katara, for starters.

Pretty much. The only thing they have in common is they came from the same tribe. Korra is much more prone to act before she thinks, grew up sheltered and privileged and her status had people taking care of her all her life. Katara didn't grow up in those luxuries and was always in the position to take care of those around her. They couldn't be any more different. Same goes for Mako and Zuko and I'd go far to say Korra is more similar to Zuko in how she handles her emotions.

Exactly! If Mako is similar to anyone it's Mai. They are both completely aloof and only show passion when it comes to people they care for.

It's so true. And the irony is that many Zutara fans dislike Mai lol.

I love Mai, but I'm also not much of a Zutara fan. I liked all of the end couples, and now I can't help but love makorra. I usually don't like couples in tv shows, but bryke has a way with mixing corniness with sweetness that just appeals to me.

I loved Mai too. I liked Zuko/Mai, but I acknowledge that it wasn't written well, especially how the audience was suppose to just accept it. I adore Makorra all the same and glad a couple that I like for once does get something more.

As a Zutara shipper, aside from being a waterbender and firebender, Makorra isn't anything like Zutara. Their characters are totally different, this ship is nothing like any of the ATLA ships.

As the story progresses I may like Makorra, but I'm very indifferent. I just want badass Korra having her own harem. Lets leave the love story out for a bit.
