A year or so ago when we discussed this over at the common room, I was team Sirius 100%. Now I'm more 50/50. I do believe Harry needed info, because the boy is known for being rash and taking matters into his own hands. It's like sex ed; with Molly, she feels as if keeping him in the dark will inhibit any action on his part, thus keeping him safe. But Harry's going to do what he wants to anyway, and without the proper information and caution, he's going out there blind and it leads to, sadly, the cost of someone's life.
So I guess I do tend to side a tad more with Sirius. IA that Harry needs to know the basics and receive the correct information from trusted sources. No, he does not need to know every single detail that the Order knows as he's not in the Order, and he's not an adult. But as Sirius points out, he's not a child either. Where it gets muddy is the fact that Sirius in OotP is going through a regressive phase, so upon re-reading this section I truly have to wonder if the more mature Sirius of GoF would have felt the same way as this Sirius does here. He was quite overprotective in the last book as well. At the dinner table, he does seem anxious to want to share info with Harry as any good friend would. I will never believe he sees Harry as James, but the waters are murky nonetheless.
As far as the events pertaining to the end of this book and the overall clusterfuck that went down, I blame Dumbledore.
