It took 21 episodes, but Jacob Artist's dreams finally came true on Glee's penultimate episode last week when he got to dance alongside series vet, and dancer extraordinaire Harry Shum, Jr.
"I said right when I got cast I would love to dance with Heather [Morris] or Harry, so when I read that in script, I was like, 'Oh my gosh, this going to be awesome," Artist tells TVGuide.com. " It was a really cool collaborative process. He's mind-blowingly phenomenal."
Now that he's made that hope a reality, what else is on Artist's Glee wishlist? "I think it'd be really funny if he had some like Justin Timberlake-ified dance routine," Artist says. "I wouldn't hate 'Cry Me a River.' That's a classic of his that I love."
Now that Artist has gotten several opportunities to show off his fancy footwork - he was accepted into Julliard's dance program shortly before joining Glee - Artist is already thinking about Jacob's future beyond Lima. Which doesn't hurt since the show has already been renewed for not one, but two, more seasons. "I'd think it'd be cool if he ended up maybe at NYADA as a dancer. I would not hate some more Kate Hudson scenes with Jake," he says with a laugh.
However, before any Season 5 (and Season 6!) brainstorming begins, fans - and even the cast - still have to see how the fourth season ends. On Thursday's season finale (9/8c on Fox), New Directions heads to Regionals ready to compete against their "superstar rival" Jessica Sanchez. But will New Directions take home the gold? "They did some sort of a rewrite and so we're not quite sure how this episode is going to end. There might be two options," Artist says. "We're kind of anxious to see ourselves what they ended up deciding."
