The moment when Kurt opens his letter from NYADA and finds he hasn’t been accepted is as good a gut-punch as I can think of for this series. We’ve been led to think that Kurt will be right there, beside his friend, making their way through the mean streets of New York. But he won’t be. Oh, sure, he might move there at some point. (In fact, I suspect he will.) But he’ll always be one step behind Rachel, and that might breed jealousy or resentment or something that wouldn’t seem possible in the Kurt we have right now. This moment of struggle is the next step in Kurt Hummel becoming the man he will be.
Kurt will go into fashion, and completely forget that he spent his senior year obsessing over Broadway. That way he doesn't have to actually get mad at or resent Rachel since they spent all season trying to sell that "friendship" and it still falls totally flat for me.
don't get me wrong, I want Fashion!Kurt more than anything (that has ALWAYS been his biggest passion, this season aside) but it's either going to take another whole season and he'll end up in New York with Blaine after all, or it'll be done Update Y'All style where the payout comes with no work. Both are lose-lose, lol.
Meanwhile, Rachel will go to NYADA and prove to be the specialest snowflake that ever snowed, and if anyone shows any sign of resentment towards her she'll come out looking the innocent victim as always. *sigh*
I hate this show and I really want to be free of it.
Kurt will start S4 in NY. I doubt he's going to find a fashion mentor in Lima. They honestly shouldn't have even bothered with the NYADA storyline, and again, the thing that pisses me off the most is I missed out on almost an entire season of Kurtcedes (they tried to ram them in toward the end, but by then I was over it) for hummelberry, and it was for NOTHING. This is why Rachel "friendships" don't work, she's entirely too big to be friends with anyone on the show and it not be all about her.
Me, too. I don't know if I can bare to read these. I still feel like I was sucker punched. Poor Chris, saddled with this show.
Kurt always has to defer to others. No, he shouldn't go to NYADA, but that should have been HIS choice. Now, as usual, it's others that make the call. And we don't even get to see him comforted by his dad. Everyone else (well, not Brittany--that was pathetic) gets to make a choice. Not Kurt.
I'm sorry Hummelberry is dead to me. I already miss Kurtcedes.
I get what you're saying, but I really don't want them to send that message - that he can't be appreciated in the performing arts world. Kurt hasn't really been appreciated in any of his efforts over the past three years. But there's always been this hope (articulated by Kurt as early as "Wheels") that what made him so hated and deemed undesirable in Lima would be what would get him out of Ohio and help him achieve his dreams in the end. It's probably what's going to happen anyway, but I would still hate for them at this point to say (in essence) "Just kidding, you tried your best and did everything right, but you just weren't good enough for that first dream!"
I understand what you're saying. The fact is, however, that after three years, the outcome is that, once again, he has fallen short. Okay, if he had other options (well, he does, but we don't know about them), that's fine. If he had a back up school, a back up plan, that would be fine. As of now, he's stuck in Lima. Maybe he can get a job as a barista and do community theater!
(This could have happened to Chris, except that his efforts paid off--he knew what he wanted and he got it. When has Kurt gotten anything, aside from a boyfriend? And I don't count that, given how dysfunctional that relationship is, just like most of the others on Glee.)
No, I don't think that will happen. Well, honestly, it could, b/c I doubt he'll get a scholarship anywhere (though if he goes to Lima CC he won't need one), but let's hope otherwise.

lol, well, sometimes I like what they have to say (when they aren't falling over themselves at the beauty that is Blarren)
I mostly agreed with Christie's Gleecap (though she didn't really get into the heartbreak behind Kurt's rejection--others did it for her), and I wanted to add my thoughts.
this is so true, ugh I hate this

Also, I hate that Kurt is expected to always have to struggle and never succeed to become the man he's meant to be. What bullshit.

And I'm starting to really agree with you re: Rachel friendships. I like Hummelberry but it really is all about Rachel.
R I P forever Kurtcedes.
