Jupp Heynckes is back.. the4thjuliek October 5 2017, 11:41:07 UTC

Seriously though, he has Stockholm Syndrome (in the words of one wise Schalke supporting r/soccer user). Dude has been given the sack by Uli and Rumenigge like, what, three times only to be called back when Bayern are in trouble. There are whispers that they tried for Tuchel who didn't want to start coaching mid-season and inheriting a relatively aging team. Others say that they're waiting for Nagelsmann and all, LOL. Nagelsmann's a good coach but Hoffenheim are a dirty team who play quite boring football and Nagelsmann needs more European experience so it'll be interesting to see how he does with a bigger team.

Nagelsmann isn’t ready yet, as you say. Tuchel v Uli, Kalle, and Certain Influential Bayern Players could be most entertaining!

Everyone behaves as if Heynckes is a demented old man. He can decide what he wants, I say - and I think it was a wise decision from Bayern, to take enough time for a long-time commitment with someone new and young.

I’m in favor of Jupp. Just surprised, as the Heynckes option hadn’t occurred to me.

He should bring his dog to team practice. ;)

Funny enough, he was the first I thought about. And also the Sueddeutsche Zeitung did their comic about it ...

Oh don't get me wrong, I love Jupp and I'm not saying that he's a demented old man, I just think that at 72, four years into retirement, he's been asked to come back and revive an out-of-form team, bring in youth players (which, of course, he is excellent at) and be tasked with competing for the league and CL, it's not an easy job.

The problem is that, there will be pressure on him. This is a man who retired winning the treble. Of course he's more than capable of replicating similar success or it could go in the way of the time he coached Gladbach (who were a shit team though) or Frankfurt. But I suppose that risk will always be there.
