- Wayne Rooney: FA ban nights out for players after England captain issues public apology for 'drunk' pictures the gist of the story is this: Rooney, whilst on international duty crashed a wedding party at the hotel being three sheets to the wind while in the England team kit. Some pictures got posted to a newspaper showing him worse for wear. The FA has had problems with English players on the lash before (Gasgoine comes to mind), and that's been largely curtailed in the latter years. Or at least, players are now savvy enough to go under the radar, like the others who went to a nightclub on the same night - but made sure that they weren't in the England kit, and no pictures were taken, etc. Mourinho (why?) has now waded into the fray saying that the FA shouldn't be allowing Rooney to get drunk. Rooney is an old hand at this mate, if at 31 he doesn't know how to handle himself around alcohol at this stage in his life, he needs the AA not the FA.

In England, there's an annual charity drive for children in need. In schools for one day, children are allowed to eschew their uniform and wear polka dotted clothing. Pudsey (the bear with the scarf over its eye) is the mascot for the charity. You'll probably see a few social accounts of footballers doing this over the next few days
Football is never just a game, to be fair, it's never been
I gotta say, I never notice footballer's partners at all.
