The big money in football kills it a bit. One flash of talent and you can make the big bucks. It especially annoys me during the Olympics when you see athletes with impeccable attitude, immense training schemes and massive skill doing brilliantly for 2 weeks. And you think about how they have to go back to work or studies because their sport doesn't get the big bucks.
One of the UK female weightlifters is sponsored by her local butcher, which is like something from the 70s. There'll never be any money in it for her, unlike the glossier sports, but at least one business thought it was worth putting up the money to make sure she could get there.
Mustafi to Arsenal seems about to happen. I hope someone takes care he gets acclimatised, I remember an interview where he said he didn't feel that good in England before, prefers Italy and Spain, culture-wise and food and everything.
Anyone watching the Olympics? Haven't seen much, missed the gymnast who after tearing his cruciate ligament went on to do a full routine on that horse thing before it was a team competition - he had to be carried of the mat afterwards, and is now the hero of the hour.
Saw this girl win her bronze medal - cute, she was really happy. And the wonders of the Olympics being "amateurs" - the commentator knew the name of her room mate who was there to watch, and said they're looking for another room mate at the moment. That's one way to find one, I guess.
I was at the stadium yesterday to watch Portugal x Algeria and Germany x Fiji. It was fun, even tho the stadium was half empty (my section was pretty full tho, so it was actually loud. Louder than some Cruzeiro games). It didn't really feel like a football game because nobody really cared about the results, people just wanted to have fun and say they were part of the Olympics. I went with a friend that doesn't even follow football lol. Some other friends are going to watch the female NT play on friday, that one should feel like a proper game and it will definitely be full

For me, Max Meyer always looks as if he should wear clothing from the 1920, a flat cap, sweater vest and shirt and such, and play a schoolboy in an old movie from an Erich Kästner book. He has that kind of face somehow.

Currently watching Goffin collapse like a bad soufflé.
Justin Rose's hole in one was cool. (although I think golf isn't a good fit for the Olympics)
