Liverpool need a manager of the calibre of Ancelotti, a top coach with experience but I'm afraid that's not really going to happen.

That's sad, because LFC (with new owners) do have the money, and the club is the most stable it has been in a long time, even before Rafa, and I think after their experiment with Rodgers, they'll definitely go back to their initial idea of a DOF. I know Ancelotti would be a stretch, but I'd spring for a coach who even liked Europa league football at this moment, to be honest. Rodgers thinks that he's too good for Europa, and he has yet to get out of the group stages!

The problem with Rodgers is to me that it's hard to see where his true strong points are. His tactics are questionable a lot of times, as is his man management and those are 2 massively important traits for a top manager.

Yeah to both. I do think that he's a decent academy friendly coach in the line of say, Tim Sherwood, in that Rodgers is not afraid to give youth a chance, and if there's a cock up (like Gomez did yesterday), he'll throw it off and move on, and the young player is given space to make mistakes. He seems to work well with modest means, but loses his head with bigger budgets and teams.

He was good for Swansea, leading them from Championship to Premier League, but he should have consolidated his experience more on the lower end of the table before saying yes to LFC. Not necessarily because LFC was better (not really) but because of the spotlight that's on LFC- and what the supporters want. He should have stayed out of the spotlight and worked out his issues a bit.

Also, Rodgers is pretty stubborn. He'll get into a winning streak, say, and will use the same plans against different teams, and becomes sussed out, and doesn't change it until he gets a right bollocking. Yes, his man management is pretty rubbish, especially when you compare him to his contemporaries. Rodgers will throw his players under the bus, or come with bland entreaties.

Compare him to Roberto Martinez, even though he was mad with Stones for wanting to leave, has protected him in the media. With Pochettino, even though he's weeded out players, or frozen them out on the sidelines, he doesn't speak about them in the press. Rodgers... is not that kind of guy. He'll even blame the grass for his failures. He's arrogant for a guy who doesn't really have much to be arrogant about. Garry Monk and Martinez are seen in a better light than him, even though they might be heading 'lesser' teams.

The support base is split when it comes to Rodgers. I think for the sake of his career, he should resign and go tinker and work out his kinks in a team that doesn't have the spotlight like LFC, but I get the feeling that he wants to get fired so he can get the £15 million payout.

Either way, it's going to be a long season.
