THE RULES + TAG REQUEST + CONTACT A MOD

RULES

IF YOU'RE READING/COMMENTING
  1. Be kind to one another. That should go without saying, but some people can get very hostile over their favourite players/teams so make sure you're respectful. Use your common sense.
  2. Do not spam. Don't advertise your cucumber farm on this football community unless you happen to be a David Beckham starting a new business. Don't advertise your stamp collecting LJ community either. If you have a football-themed community then that's fine, but be sensible with how much you try and advertise it- our traffic is small enough as it is!
  3. Try not to be off topic for too long. It would be ridiculous to say "never be off topic" because I'm extremely guilty of it myself, but try and stay on-topic as much as possible. A 'free for all' post is made every Friday evening (European time) where you can go off topic for as long as you want. Extra free for all posts will be made at special occassions. Otherwise, please keep it to a minimum.

IF YOU'RE POSTING
  1. Do not post pointlessly. Nobody comes here to read about your "Top 5 woods for benchmaking". Unless it's "Luis Suarez' top 5 woods for benchmaking" then it doesn't belong here. Spam will be deleted. Posts that are not in English that do not have an adequate translation will be deleted. Translate it yourself, bullet point it in English or find an English article. As beautiful as the Italian language may be, not many of us here speak it.
  2. Always cite your source. When necessary, which will be nearly always, make sure you have left a link to the source you have taken your post from. It's easiest if you actually write up your own version of events and cite where you found the information from, but let's be real for a moment... Make it clear that text copied from another page is someone else's work. Posts without a link to the source will be deleted. Never use other blogs as a source. Unless you have added a commentary, these posts will be deleted.
  3. Try and use tags where possible. I understand that it's difficult to navigate through our 700+ tags (I am in the process of streamlining them, I promise) but do try your best to tag with at least the league/team/player (whichever is appropriate) that your post concerns. If you're posting a match thread then try and tag all of the teams playing rather than all of the players. The tags for individual players should be reserved for posts that name them specifically. If you aren't sure about which tags to use, this is not a big problem- moderators can edit tags on your behalf if you inform them of your issue.
  4. Use a cut. It's the scissors button on the menu bar. Use it to hide long articles of text. If your post is too long and you don't use a cut then it will be deleted. Mods cannot edit your posts to add the cut in, so it is your responsibility to do it. Use cuts to hide large amounts of text or pictures from the homepage. Be kind to our bandwidth.

REQUESTING A TAG
  • Instead of making infrequent 'request a tag' posts, leave a comment below asking for a tag to be made. If it's deemed worthy enough, I'll add it and let you know. It'd also be great if you could link to a previously made post where it would be added because new tags don't appear for public use until they've been added to a post by a mod.
CONTACTING A MODERATOR/ADMIN
  • As above, really. I have full notifications set up for this post, so whenever you'll post on it I should get it in my Inbox. Feel free to still tag me (or any other mod/maintainer), but that'll get a slower response. Do not hesistate to make a comment letting me know about any issues/problems you have for the site. Please do not use this just for a chat though, my Inbox is busy enough as it is.
I can't think of anything else. I'll revise this when/if necessary.
