Dortmund woes back again jesscp February 25 2015, 11:35:27 UTC
Ugh. It could have been FAR WORSE but props to my boy Marco for turning up and actually attacking. Our defence was pretty non-existent and Roman needs to be rested again because the GK mistakes he made last night CANNOT happen in the Derby on Saturday. Juve were good but idk, I expected more from them. They had so many chances and seemed to bottle it at times. Ah well at least we were spared an Annihilation. That's 2 times now that Marco has breezed a goal due to poor defending, I am hoping he can do it again in Saturday!

It also doesn't help that Juve spent a lot of the game trying to attack our players, I swear my heart stopped every time they tried it with Marco, we know his ankles are not the strongest. Kampl better be over his gastroenteritis by Saturday too (poor boy, I am in the throes of a 24 hour bug yet here I am at work because a male colleague is off with a cold and SOMEONE needs to hold the fort, smh)

World Cup at Christmas?! I don't think so, tv schedulers will already be in crisis plus ugh. This Qatar WC is such a mess why are they carrying on with it?! Dear god I really don't get it.

So I know arsenal are playing tonight and I'm still not over my irrational dislike for them, but idk. Everyone has this opinion that Monaco are basically gonna get thrashed and I'm kinda hoping for an upset to keep it interesting. I will probably watch the Atletico game instead, I don't pay them enough attention and I'm not big on rm or Barca, so I think I should get to know Atletico a bit more.

Nice post OP as always!

Atlético is a good team to know. They play that hunting in pack/wolf pack football that Dortmund played to great effect a season ago, but Atlético is forged in the image of their maker, Simeone. They argue with the referees for balls and choices as if it's their God given right under creation to have the ball, and they tend to walk the fine line between technique and temper. When it's in balance (like against Real Madrid) it's the nicest thing to see. But their emotional stability is like a game of jenga- once one player breaks away in terms of discipline (again, that temper bit) the team can crumble.

It will be interesting to see which Atlético shows up tonight!

Lol they're not balanced against Real Madrid, they're way more violent and rough than they'd be against a lower side.

They stop the channels from midfield and smother any service that Bale or Ronaldo might get in terms of them bombing forward to get a goal. Barcelona and Real Sociedad can beat Atlético Madrid more than Real Madrid at this moment in time.

So I'd say that there's some sort of technique with Atlético to be beating Real Madrid on different occasions than just being 'violent and rough'.

Yeah you're right on the tactics part of it, i was referring to their emotional stability, i wouldn't call reverting to more violent play as balance between tactic and temper.

Atleti knocking them out of the cup was through roughing Real up, but in the derby for the league, it was more through finesse. In any case, Atleti are becoming Real's boogeyman, which I do not mind at all.

Yeah I think I would rather watch the Atletico match tonight if I'm still awake. I'm not really into la Liga at all and never have time to watch it, so at least CL I can still appreciate the team without having to dive into the league itself.

Did you watch the Dortmund match last night?

Hmmm no. When I came home, the City match was on TV, and my streams were crap, so I watched that instead.

Don't blame you - my first English stream was about 5 minutes behind and then I ended up watching a german stream. I think my laptop is on its last legs too, so I think watching more than 1 stream will break my laptop for good!!

No way are Monaco gonna get thrashed. They had the best defense of the entire CL group stage and they're doing extremely well in the Ligue 1. Only idiots think that this is gonna be an easy win for Arsenal.

ERM sis you want to see all the Arsenal fans on my timeline RN - in their heads, arsenal have already won CL!!! I feel nauseated enough from flu without seeing some comments, I've had to hide a couple of friends from my Facebook feed!

Sis I'm sure your boys will do just fine, they've been playing pretty well lately. I just know annoying people who support your team, that's all!
