Snaaaakkkkeee bit. He's been broken, he needs to be put in fallow for a long while. Let the little soccerroo step up as first choice keeper, I think.

When the ball isn't at Messi's feet, he just seems lost. What's nice about Messi though is that he seems to appreciate the little things of the sport? You find that goalkeepers tend to tease him and he responds well, even though he doesn't seem to understand English (that most goalies seem to speak, you notice?).

True, when he isn't playing, he just slinks about and doesn't look at all like he could be the best player there is (or is that Ronaldo, I keep losing track).

Nah, Ronaldo pouts and seems to be impatient with his teammates when things don't go his way. Messi just wanders about like a Barcelona clad wraith until the ball gets to his feet again. Since he's gotten Neymar though, he doesn't seem to be that alone any more.

Ah, I meant I had lost track whether Ronaldo was supposed to be the best player - I do think his behaviour is obnoxious. There's a reason why I only felt sorry for one of the two in the World Cup. The "frustrated Ronaldo" pictures from the first group match are hilarious, but after the final, Messi was really sad to see.

LOL, not far from the truth! I remember when Neymar was being linked to Barca (Chelsea expressed interest in him and City, but he thought that in England, our pitches were swamp like and he would have to wear special shoes O.o) the question was always, "Will he get on with Messi? Will he realise that Messi is the top dog and that he'd have to play around Messi?"

yeah i think giving mitch a chance can't be worse than what we have to deal with now..

tbh i haven't watched messi all that much because he plays for barca but he does seem endearing in a way. idk i don't have much opinion on him. lol

The best thing I'll say for Messi is that on the field, he doesn't act as if he's Messi, if that makes sense. He doesn't appeal for a penalty beyond say, a puzzled look in the referee's direction. If he gets angry (rare), it goes away quickly, and (unlike Neymar) he doesn't seem to be a mouthy gobshite!

Yeah, give Mitch a chance and then tap up someone young and hungry for the second goalie, I think.

Man, LJ has been giving me grief with this post. If I could drop kick it now, I would.

Aww, most people hate Messi because he plays for Barca/is hailed to the skies but I really like him. He seems like a nice guy and minds his own business for the most part. Plus, he's just great to watch (even when playing shitty-taka).
