Over half a year later and his posts in Portuguese still crack me up every single time. His "meme" was the best thing to happen to twitter during the WC. I'd give my soul to see Podolski here during Carnaval tbh. Maybe next year.

First there was that video of him and Schweini watching Brazil x Chile with a Brazilian flag. Then he wrote a very nice post after the 7-1, so people fell in love with him. Buuuut, then he tweeted he was feeling so at home in Brazil that he was even watching soap operas (novelas) everyday and called himself a "noveleiro". People went cray cray over this and so the "Podolski is so Brazilian *inserts something typically Brazilian here*" meme begun.

the day when he tweeted that 'i'm watching soap operas' thing, i got over 500 straight tweets of 'podolski doing shit brazilians do' on my timeline. like, there were over 500 teets, without a break, doing the meme. i counted it.

that might have been the internet's greatest moment.
