I remember the days when Mrs Gerrard was forever in OK and Hello mag, in fact I am sure she had her own column in one of those mags?! Don't judge me, during my time at Uni not too long ago, I had a bit of an obsession with buying trashy celeb mags instead of important stuff, like food! That's how I know about the WAGs. But yeah I agree - if Gerrard wants to be a coach, then the route you've mentioned is the best for him.
LOL, no judgement. The WAG culture was strong back in the days between 2004-2010. They were real famewhorey then, but after England's diminishing turns of fortune at the World Cup, they've cut back a lot on their visiblity. I think Mrs Gerrard used to be a model (oh, the English, how they throw the words 'celebrity' and 'model' and 'personality' so freely!), she even flogged her perfume at one point. I think she calmed down circa 2010, and since they've had a third kid, Lourdes I think (forgive, the tumblrs I follow are in love with Steven Gerrard, but to their credit not in a creepy, I hate your WAG way?) she's really flown under the radar low.
But yeah, if Gerrard wanted to be a coach, Xabi Alonso's way would have been the best way, in terms of working in various leagues under various coaches that sort of thing. I've always thought that's why the English game has suffered a bit, because up until recently, our coaches/managers were pretty insular. But nowadays, people are looking into far flung places (no coincidence that there are a lot of South American coaches on this side of the Atlantic) for inspiration and technique. For all my grouse against Rodgers (every one knows this), I gotta admire the guy for going over to Spain as a younger coach to see other systems of play, and taking the opportunity to learn a foreign language. It does say something about his self development and ambition - if he could just stop wanking around everytime he looks in a mirror, Rodgers would be a bit of all right.
but there seems to be a psychological block somewhere preventing gameplay and in my eyes, something is going on behind closed doors because there isn't much else excuse for the current state of play.
Hmmm. Probably a matter of needing a new broom, I think. Klopp seems to be wedded to his way, which is worrying. Rodgers after six matches of being blown out has forsaken his wretched striker upfront for something a bit more fluid tactics wise. Klopp needs to realise the team that he has, especially what with the better players pushing for an exit (like tunnel **** and Satan Bobby did), as well as teams sniffing around Hummels and Reus. But Klopp has reached heights with Dortmund, and I'm sure he'll reach there again, but with football being the treadmill that it is- probably taking a sabbatical like Guardiola did shouldn't be discouraged.

Gerrard might just be better off coaching at Liverpool, seeing as he hasn't had the experience of other leagues, plus he knows the team so well, having been there pretty much all his playing life.
Dortmund need a massive kick up the arse really. I can't place all the blame on Klopp, his tactics haven't been dreadful but he hasn't changed up the team as much as I would have liked. If it's not working, change it up, don't leave it until the point of being bottom of the table!

Hmmm, to be honest with you, the 'English' game is pretty much being phased out/turned into a hybrid nowadays. I mean, we'll still expect the players to be individual, but with the influx of foreign managers the age of Harry Rednap seems to be numbered, you know? The English game seems to be changing to more tactics and teamwork and less Roy of the Rovers outlook that Gerrard and co came up up with. Especially now with Europa and Champions League titles becoming more important to the English game. Which is why I'd expect him to at least do a Ryan Giggs and shadow coaches for the while.
Bale refusing or just not bothering to learn Spanish and communicate in it for interviews is a bit arrogant and lazy really.
Yeah, Alonso had the added incentive that Pep Guardiola, Spaniard, took it upon himself to learn German six months before he set foot in the country, and did a press conference in speaking passable German. In addition to that, Guardiola doesn't speak Spanish/English in the team meetings (he's very aware of Bayern Munich being a German club, and learnt the language because the ex players were already up in arms that they got a Spaniard instead of a German to be club manager, etc). Guardiola is a very much all or nothing guy in a way that Ancelotti isn't. But it's weird, because I remember when Ronaldo did his first interview with Real Madrid (when they were going to have the first classico that he'd be playing in) and the interviewer asked him something about Messi in English, Ronaldo was all, "No, I have to speak to you in Spanish" (when he started answering in English). Bale's reticence to learn the language is shocking, tbh.
