Eh, LFC are looking better, but they still can't pass for toffee, and kick balls AT their opposing players instead of towards the goal. Our decision making needs work, and you get the feeling that with a better coach, the players could only be better because there is some talent on the team. But yeah, I'm not eyeing cheap cooking Sherry when they play anymore, so there's that. Idek with Dortmund man, can't they bring in a defensive coach? It's like everyone wants to go towards goal but... not everyone can be a goal scorer? Idek. Goalies need defending too! Hold up, I need to scream that to the Tottenham Spurs (GIVE LLORIS SOME SUPPORT AND BACKUP, YA TOSSERS!).
Re: Giroud - winning covers up a lot of sins. You can ignore a lot of things when winning. Like LFC ignoring their tissue thin defence last year because they were winning, and now, with the losses, Rodgers is realising that he has to strengthen the basics.
Yesh, Bale. Between that head band and his lack of Spanish skills (according to the Spaniards I speak to, he doesn't speak the language still - after a year there and supposedly getting privately tutored?) he isn't making much friends.

Oh yeah Dortmund have problems tracking their actual team mates too when passing. Or we are in the perfect position to pass but no one is at the damn goal to help out. It's just tragic. It's sad when it's not just defence that is the main problem. Ugh Juve will crucify us the way we are going currently.
Giroud totally saved his skin but that red card business needed a big telling off! It shocks me that Bale has been there for a year/more and still hasn't learnt Spanish! I can't imagine living in a country where I can't communicate properly. Considering not everyone in Spain and certainly in the team speak English, I wonder how he communicates. It just beggars belief. You should be learning the language of the country you're in or what's the point!

Yeah, Gerrard has made noises that he wants to be a coach. Finish up in Galaxy then go and shadow a few coaches for a few years, manage a league 1/Championship side (like it's said that Ryan Giggs is looking into doing - he wants to manage Manchester United, but you get the feeling that TPTB really don't trust him as yet). But yeah, Gurran settled down after 2010, didn't she? You probably get the odd photo of her walking around with her kids in their football jerseys, but she's mostly limited her presence to Instagram and the odd twitter post.
Oy, Dortmund. It's so weird, like... they must know where they are going wrong? I did a link where the Manchester United fans were chanting 4-4-2 to LvG because his men were playing in a 3-5-1 formation, and he made them play in a 4-4-2 formation in the second half, winning their match. Probably Dortmund should do open source coaching? :P

I remember the days when Mrs Gerrard was forever in OK and Hello mag, in fact I am sure she had her own column in one of those mags?! Don't judge me, during my time at Uni not too long ago, I had a bit of an obsession with buying trashy celeb mags instead of important stuff, like food! That's how I know about the WAGs. But yeah I agree - if Gerrard wants to be a coach, then the route you've mentioned is the best for him.
Tbh, Dortmund have pinned all their hopes on Marco returning to fitness, instead of sorting the issues with the healthy members of the squad instead. Like I've said in the past, the players are good, but there seems to be a psychological block somewhere preventing gameplay and in my eyes, something is going on behind closed doors because there isn't much else excuse for the current state of play.

LOL, no judgement. The WAG culture was strong back in the days between 2004-2010. They were real famewhorey then, but after England's diminishing turns of fortune at the World Cup, they've cut back a lot on their visiblity. I think Mrs Gerrard used to be a model (oh, the English, how they throw the words 'celebrity' and 'model' and 'personality' so freely!), she even flogged her perfume at one point. I think she calmed down circa 2010, and since they've had a third kid, Lourdes I think (forgive, the tumblrs I follow are in love with Steven Gerrard, but to their credit not in a creepy, I hate your WAG way?) she's really flown under the radar low.
But yeah, if Gerrard wanted to be a coach, Xabi Alonso's way would have been the best way, in terms of working in various leagues under various coaches that sort of thing. I've always thought that's why the English game has suffered a bit, because up until recently, our coaches/managers were pretty insular. But nowadays, people are looking into far flung places (no coincidence that there are a lot of South American coaches on this side of the Atlantic) for inspiration and technique. For all my grouse against Rodgers (every one knows this), I gotta admire the guy for going over to Spain as a younger coach to see other systems of play, and taking the opportunity to learn a foreign language. It does say something about his self development and ambition - if he could just stop wanking around everytime he looks in a mirror, Rodgers would be a bit of all right.

Hmmm. Probably a matter of needing a new broom, I think. Klopp seems to be wedded to his way, which is worrying. Rodgers after six matches of being blown out has forsaken his wretched striker upfront for something a bit more fluid tactics wise. Klopp needs to realise the team that he has, especially what with the better players pushing for an exit (like tunnel **** and Satan Bobby did), as well as teams sniffing around Hummels and Reus. But Klopp has reached heights with Dortmund, and I'm sure he'll reach there again, but with football being the treadmill that it is- probably taking a sabbatical like Guardiola did shouldn't be discouraged.

Gerrard might just be better off coaching at Liverpool, seeing as he hasn't had the experience of other leagues, plus he knows the team so well, having been there pretty much all his playing life.
Dortmund need a massive kick up the arse really. I can't place all the blame on Klopp, his tactics haven't been dreadful but he hasn't changed up the team as much as I would have liked. If it's not working, change it up, don't leave it until the point of being bottom of the table!

Hmmm, to be honest with you, the 'English' game is pretty much being phased out/turned into a hybrid nowadays. I mean, we'll still expect the players to be individual, but with the influx of foreign managers the age of Harry Rednap seems to be numbered, you know? The English game seems to be changing to more tactics and teamwork and less Roy of the Rovers outlook that Gerrard and co came up up with. Especially now with Europa and Champions League titles becoming more important to the English game. Which is why I'd expect him to at least do a Ryan Giggs and shadow coaches for the while.
Bale refusing or just not bothering to learn Spanish and communicate in it for interviews is a bit arrogant and lazy really.
Yeah, Alonso had the added incentive that Pep Guardiola, Spaniard, took it upon himself to learn German six months before he set foot in the country, and did a press conference in speaking passable German. In addition to that, Guardiola doesn't speak Spanish/English in the team meetings (he's very aware of Bayern Munich being a German club, and learnt the language because the ex players were already up in arms that they got a Spaniard instead of a German to be club manager, etc). Guardiola is a very much all or nothing guy in a way that Ancelotti isn't. But it's weird, because I remember when Ronaldo did his first interview with Real Madrid (when they were going to have the first classico that he'd be playing in) and the interviewer asked him something about Messi in English, Ronaldo was all, "No, I have to speak to you in Spanish" (when he started answering in English). Bale's reticence to learn the language is shocking, tbh.
