Nice collection (and happy new year)!

The team you can't place is Greece. Don't ask me the names though; I don't know the team very well, mostly because I have the same trouble with Greek names that you have with German ones. It starts out OK for about eight letters, and than there's a whole bunch more, finished off by -opoulos, and I get lost.

Apart from all the obvious cheering/overwhelmed post-final photos of the German World Cup team (sorry, I know you don't like them, but I'm German, so I really can't help it, particularly as they seem really a nice bunch!), I like this one:

View image | gettyimages.comPeace and goodwill between the nations and all that. In spite of all problems, we have come far in the last decades. And as for the players, from what Per has since said about having to chew on being taken out for this game, I suspect he could use some company outside the German team too. And it's a bit less tragic in hindsight than the Luiz-James one - Luiz was so sweet to little James, and a short while later, he was the one ( ... )

I wanted Bosnia and Herzegovina to go further than they went but eh.

Ah, Brazil. They'll never live that down. Being on the various forums after that, and the glee by the Argentine fans and the German fans- oy. Then the result at the World Cup and Götze getting the winning goal? Double oy. Oh well! Germany was working towards it since 2004, so if they hadn't won, well. They were expected to, and it was supposedly a bookend to the summer of 2006 or something, so it wasn't a surprise, as much as destined. We move on.

I had more pictures to post but my internet stream is being disagreeable. I just hope I can watch the games today.

Ah, if it had really been some epic poetic whatdoyoucallit or a typical movie script, it wouldn't have been Götze who scored. It would have needed to be Miroslav Klose's final World Cup act, definitely, and I'd have preferred it. So the most we got in that respect was Bastian Schweinsteiger saying he felt a sense of justice and closure when he hugged Jogi after the final... well, I guess some pathos was to be expected, and he looked close to falling down from mental and physical exhaustion. In my watching party, we were wondering if he'd made it up the steps for the trophy.

Good luck with your stream! It's annoying if they don't work or change matches in-between. I'll probably end up with a stream in a language that I don't actually speak again so I get by on the Latin-sourced words and the names.

Thank you for the luck! I might have to listen to Five Live - oy. Where they have texts by disgruntled football fans who have vitriol towards the players and the managers, and half of their suggestions sound as if they've been playing football manager so they are Filled With Ideas.

I just want my teams to win (LFC should be fine against Leicester, but we can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, we do but I really want Spurs to get at least a point off Chelsea- come on ya Coys).

Me too! At the final whistle he just dropped to the ground. He ran 15km in that match so it's logical that he was tired. It would have been a bit easier if Sami had played, I guess.
