i read it and i might've gotten the gist of it. just as i suspected: it involves probabilities. this is why i did not like statistics in college tbh. lmao

but for maximum entertainment i hope juve is drawn against bayern! real-psg/arsenal might be fun too. however, i'd want an "easy" opponent for my BVB boys. i don't want to take chances.

edit: lol so you already posted this table here. how did i not notice it? i think i need some sleep. lol

LOL, r/soccer is claiming that table? Sneaky weasels. I *think* MisterChip did that one.

That chart doesn't account for the ORDER of the draw. Say, if Real goes first and draws Arsenal (omg, I hope not! RIP, Arsenal), Bayern is not gonna draw them and the 24% goes out the window, and the rest of their options would go up to 25% (1 in 4 chance). I haven't followed a CL draw before, so I don't know how they normally do it. They should totally draw slips out of a hat (but they probably have a computer program doing it).

Doing a better table(s) would be tedious as crap...not sure if anyone has bothered. I'm sure all the betting places are happy this chart is floating around, though, if they are allowing betting on the draw. XD

Ha, I didn't realize Jazzy had added it to the post, either. (Rielle had posted it in the last CL match post, where I spent far too much time wasting brain power on this the other day and decided that I actually didn't care. Which is what Chrysa did after a while, too, haha. Unless she got a ~second wind later.)

~we can be clueless together!~

But now I want the CL guys to get out one of those air-powered lottery rigs with plastic balls for the draw. That would be excellent. Or maybe something they use in super-serious bingo games. B17!

yeah, i think i understand the basic mechanics of the draw, but it's just not going to be easy to pinpoint the exact result without a ton of calculations because probability is a bitch. lol

lol, that would be cool! and here i thought they just randomly pick the names out of a hat.

It would be the only way they'd have a woman involved publicly.

/no, not bitter ;-P

Not sure I'll be able to watch the live draw, so we'll see what they do. It will probably just be a dude reading names off a sheet of paper or a teleprompter.

They do tend to have pomp around these things. To be fair. It is the Champions of Europe after all.

I am underwhelmed by the bowls, but I guess it's better than the computer option for ~pomp purposes.

I was reading about how they did the group draw stages, but when they got to the UEFA coefficient, I started to check out since it reminded me of work/school topics. Math for fun is just not really my thing these days.
