its not like they didnt bend to his philosophy, it just didnt work.
you cannot play attacking and a high line defense when you don't have the players suited
for it. its stupid, and its the reason we were practically leaking on goals. The defenders
obviously werent comfortable. I kind of wish he had slowly built his team while having to work
with the players he had. He needed time, but also his problem was that he didnt budge. He was interested
in doing things one way, and it didnt work out. and he also lost the dressing room. Still i liked him, however
when I think of him as a manager, he was a disaster. He learned a lot though, and he'll learn from it, he was quite
dynamic and had a good football philosophy, but seemed utterly clueless on how to implement it with our team.
LOL it would be just our luck if he goes to 'pool and is amazing and they are a top 4 team again.

It didn't work because he was never given the time or the support. Kinda hard to make a project work when the core of senior players at your club are basically sabotaging what you're trying to do. AVB handled things very poorly though, from a man-management point of view.

Di Matteo, this sudden and intense improvement in (cup) form - I can be wrong, but I'm convinced it won't last. In my opinion it's basically the result of many players' response to being given their last opportunity to shine. The problem Abramovich wanted to solve when he hired AVB is still there, that's why seems to have no intention of keeping Di Matteo. AVB's project was ultimately what he wants for the future of the club - it was always going to be a transition year, and we all know how transition years are. The problem wasn't solved, merely postponed.

I agree with you on one aspect though, he doesn't suit Chelsea's style of play. They're way more defensive than the teams he creates. Liverpool in that regard suits him a lot better.

I'm worried about Skrtel tbh. I don't even want to think about it...
But we do have the attacking potential, and we're not exactly a defensive team! I mean, 33 shots on the goal post this season?! More than any other team since they started keeping count? Ugh! =/

I think the problem when you say 'he wasnt given time or support' is that, no one, not the fans nor the owner wants to see their team playing so badly and losing. Besides, he wasn't trying to evolve the team slowly, he tried to change too much at once. The players are to blame for sure, because they looked like they couldn't have given a shit, and that frustrated me. However, calling it sabotage is just ridiculous. I mean, he alienated so many players its not even funny, obviously there are guys who loved him and worked hard for him, but he didn't just piss of lampard and co etc ( ... )

I am sceptical about his ability to galvanize a team, to spot and integrate talent.
He has the talent, especially for the latter two. He just wasn't prepared for a Chelsea-style internal sabotage, and admittedly handled matters poorly. I think he's learned from his mistakes though, because if there's one thing he definitely isn't is dumbIt also has to be said that Liverpool isn't Chelsea. The level of expectations is still quite different, the style of play is miles apart, the supporters are nothing alike ( ... )
