I think there's loads of reasons.

People don't see them as big, exciting matches and they expect us to win easily (even though we always do worse against the "small" teams) so they're not as up for it as usual. Which is a bit stupid.

The bits that are always loud like at the back of the kop are still good but the acoustics at Anfield mean that if the rest of the stand don't join in it doesn't carry to the rest of the ground at all. There's been times when I've been stood up there and thought the atmosphere was amazing but then got home and watched highlights and haven't been able to hear any Liverpool fans at all. Because it's easier to get tickets for these games there's more people who are at Anfield for the first ever time or who don't go regularly, and they might not know all the words to the songs or feel confident enough to start getting singing going down at the bottom of the kop or in the other stands, so it means it's harder for the atmosphere to really get going.

It shouldn't be like that, but it's the same for every other premier league club I think.
