Gago concedes "Barca are the best"
Real Madrid's Fernando Gago has done his prospects of staying at the club little good by declaring the Barcelona are the best team ever.
Gago arrived at Real from Boca Juniors in 2006 for €20million and initially played a key role in the side as a holding midfielder.
However, the arrival of a similar players who excel in that position like Lassana Diarra and Sami Khedira has curtailed Gago's involvement and the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Argentine international only made four La Liga appearances this past season and has been heavily linked with a move away, with Liverpool rumoured to be interested, along with a number of Serie A clubs.
And the out-of-favour midfielder has done his chances of forcing his way back into the Real first-team little good by speaking out in praise of arch-rivals Barcelona.
"Barcelona are the best team in history," Gago said, according to ESPN Argentina.
Furthermore, he suggested that the Madridistas were in denial over the gulf in quality between Real and their bitter enemies.
"They are well above Real Madrid and the fans do not want to admit it."
With such statements bound to incur the wrath of all involved at the club, it is unlikely Gago will be pulling on the white of Real in the near future.
