Fınal offer for Alves
FC Barcelona has yesterday submitted its final contract extension offer for Dani Alves’s agent to study and accept, which according to the Catalan-language sports paper ‘Sport’ today, is kind of a take-it-or-leave-it proposal.
Although the player has a contract that will last until June 2012, the club wants him to renew as it has been acknowledged by everyone involved that the Brazilian international is an integral part of FC Barcelona’s successes in the past two seasons, and is still Pep Guardiola’s main man at right-back.
The offer, said to be a major improvement to any that was proposed before, will see Dani receiving a pay scale close to the one that Xavi, Iniesta and Villa has, and if accepted, will remain with the club until June 2015 with an option to extend further depending on requirements.
Since joining the club from Sevilla FC for a reported €40 million (including variables) in July of 2008, the player who will be 28 next May, has helped FC Barcelona won eight titles including the most coveted by any European based player, the UEFA Champions League trophy.

Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has been told he can leave the club after failing to agree terms on a new contract, reports from Spain suggest.
AS comments that the Blaugrana will hope to cash in on the Brazilian in January after his wage demands were deemed to be too exorbitant, with Sandro Rosell refusing to budge on the terms already offered to the former Sevilla defender.
Alves feels he is worth more than is currently on the table, and his agent will put Manchester City on high alert to his availability in the winter market by claiming that his client is ready for a new challenge.
The 27-year-old is tied to the Camp Nou until the summer of 2012, and given the fact that coach Pep Guardiola spent €32 million to take him to Catalunya in 2008, the club will look to recoup some of that expenditure before he can negotiate with other sides under the Bosman ruling.
Guardiola is thought to be pleased with Alves' current form, but with the Spanish champions undertaking an age of austerity under the new board, it is unlikely that they will be able to meet the wage demands offered by the likes of City, or even Chelsea, who are also monitoring the situation closely.
