Just like I hope that football culture will change such that homophobic slurs are as unacceptable as racial slurs, I hope it will change such that emotions are dealt with honestly and seriously, so what happened to Robert won't happen again.

Rest in peace.

He wasn't closeted, she's just bringing other forms of what can be seen as a "weakness" in football.

No no no, completely separate issues! But both need to be solved, which is what I meant. He did have some very serious depression near the end of his life that he felt couldn't be expressed though, which is also extremely tragic.

The closer we come to 10th November, the more things like this are featured in the media again.
There were two similar cases of depression and suicide attempts, one shortly after Enke's death and on just recently, which were featured on TV these days.
It's about time people stop being idiots about mental illnesses(, sexuality, ethnicity or whatever). The bigger the stigma about being ill is, the more people will hide it instead of going into treatment. But how to get into the heads of people that a depressed person won't automatically fail at life and is a useless, worthless dumbass no one can spend time with? They are just as human and lovable as everyone else. If anything, they deserve more love and care than others to help them with their problem.
