New Zealand vs Honduras Oct 9: Preview

Oct 07, 2010 15:30

Our favourite shirtless boy, Winston Reid has arrived back in NZ for the game! He gave a typically kiwi and hilarious interview XDDDD

Specific memories of playing football in NZ? "yeh after football I always had a can of Coke and a pie. I'm looking for a dairy!"
What's training like at West Ham? "Same as anywhere, warm up, touches with the feet, then bugger off home!"

Also same interview, but quieter sound and a better view on TV3

Words from the captain:
“It is an important game, an extremely important game,” said Nelsen.
“They use the word friendly because FIFA decide to use, it’s as simple as that.
“I’ve spoken to the guys in the Paraguay team and they take it dead serious as well, because these nations have millions of supporters and a demanding media and if they lose they will get pelted. I assume we will too, so we want to win.”
“I think the New Zealand public get caught up in the term ‘friendly’ because they don’t hear it in rugby when in fact it is the same as the All Blacks playing Scotland before the Tri-Nations.
Nelsen was clear about the quality within Honduras and Paraguayan teams.

Hondurans leaving for NZ - mostly complaining about the 20+ hour flight, saying they will have to listen to Bob Marley, and that they need to be v v v good friends to stand such a long time stuck together, hahaha :)

"If we play well it doesn't matter if we lose. We don't have to be desperate, the results will show in due time. We're preparing to win the Cup of Nations." said Castillo before boarding the plane (sauce)
