So we have had a couple of post about the "Women's Professional Soccer" WPS, which is the new women's pro soccer league in the US. Well the L.A team has offered Marta $350,000 a year.
$350,000 is of course more than she is making at the Swedish club Umea (and more that many MLS players get). The Swedish league is thought to be the most competitive league followed by the English league and then the French league, which according to my limited knowledge - sucks, whith the exception of the women's Lyon side (yes they have one). The team has deep pockets and was able to sign that hot Swedish bitch Lotta Schelin for $150,000 a season making her the highest paid female footballer - with the exception of the US WNT. These EURO leagues compete in a women's UEFA cup. Though gaining in prestige and credibility, none of the aforementioned leauges are FULL PROFESSIONAL, not all of the players get paid. The WPS is said to have a salary cap of about $540,000. I am going to assume that the teams (at least some of them) will get some sort of "designated player" funds (money played to top player is not included in the cap i.e. David Beckham), which is what is done in the MLS (they have a salary cap of a couple of million I think).
