Torres fitness latest

Rafa Benitez has revealed he will give Fernando Torres every chance of taking on Blackburn Rovers this weekend as the striker continues to step up his recuperation from a groin injury.

The 25-year-old has not figured for the Reds first-team since the Champions League clash with Lyon on November 4 following a problem sustained on international duty.

However, Torres is close to resuming full training with his teammates and Benitez will make a late decision before deciding whether to include the No.9 in his squad for the trip to Ewood Park.

"The feedback we had about Torres yesterday was very positive and he was feeling good," the boss told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"We will see how he is in the training session today, but it seems as though things are going well."

Asked whether the Spain international could face Rovers, Benitez replied: "It depends on how he feels during the week.

"He has to keep training with the fitness coach, but if he is feeling better maybe he can be involved in normal training sessions and afterwards we can decide."

Gil Marin commented: “We have had another opportunity to sell him and again we have said no.

“Aguero will leave Atletico when he wants to go, as happened with Fernando Torres.”

Ukrainian International Andriy Shevchenko Involved In Car Crash

According to reports from Ukraine, Dynamo Kiev striker Andriy Shevchenko was involved in a car accident on the streets of Kiev on Thursday afternoon.

The 33-year-old attacker crashed his Porsche into a Honda in the centre of Ukraine's capital. Neither of the parties involved in the crash sustained any serious injuries.

The former Milan star isn't the first well known footballer to get involved in a car crash this week. Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema drove his Audi into some barriers and then an oak tree close to his house following el Clasico.

Shevchenko will be relieved to have stepped away from the accident without any serious injuries. The experienced attacker recently returned to Kiev to relaunch his career.
