i think we need to remember that the entire idea of "real men" is based on trying not to be feminine, because anything associated with being a woman is negative. so this is still basically an attack on women.
And a lot of the scenarios she mentions put women in a role of serving a man: i.e. dead wife just there to make his life better and teach him to feeeel.
EXACTLY: It's two sides of the same old misogynist coin, not some amazing new coin TV writers just minted. This isn't a new problem, or frankly even a new manifestation of an old problem - I mean, is it really a novel observation that the ultimate insult to a man is to infer that he's somehow womanly? Fundamentally, this isn't really about men.
