Skin color, and the fear of dark skin within both the White community and the Black community really hurts me. I've seen too many Black women resort to skin bleaching to try to appear more light skinned attractive. I've seen too many Black men talk about how they won't date a dark skinned woman because they don't want dark skinned kids, and they're only attracted to "redbones" and "yellowbones". Too many White men who say "I find all races attractive, except Black women. Just a preference." I've heard the phrase "You're cute for a Black girl," and had people expect me and other Black women to take it as a compliment too many times. Black is beautiful, racism is ugly. And I really hope this film gets the promotion and the attention it deserves. So please like the Dark Girls page and spread the word.
