Yes, indeed, it did. Now, on the off chance that there are any Romani who cross my path and there is some reason to talk about that person's ethnicity as opposed to cat grooming or the price of gas or whatever, I will know the proper term to use.

As an aside, if you were going to go to all the trouble in the beginning of this interesting and horrifying article to say "Use Romani, not Roma," and then go on for 4 more lines of explaining why other terms are not appropriate and griping about whitesplainin, how hard would it have been to include "because Roma is not inclusive enough" when you first posted? That would have nipped my question in the bud right there and would have saved all this. You wouldn't be so irritated and indignant with me, and I wouldn't feel sniped at.

Sure, I could google it, but what is the point of social groups if not to share information and learn from one another? I could just as easily have googled the information in the news articles you posted, too.

It's big as life to you, but it's an ethnic group that I know very little about who live in a far away place, and since you were sharing information, I thought sharing information was something you wanted to do.

So sorry that I offended your delicate sensibilities.

if you googled it instead of coming to this ~social group~ then you wouldn't have to deal with the fact that when you post things, you get replies from people who may have different perspectives. sometimes, people get angry. in this case i think it is justified on multiple levels, including the fact the OP pointed out that this is not the first time we have had this discussion here.

you might want to look up "the tone argument" - focussing on someone's tone and how it upset you, rather than making the content of the post your focus is a form of derailment.

So sorry that I offended your delicate sensibilities.

I know not everyone reads every post here, but she and others have explained it many times in many posts in addition to always pointing it out in her own posts. And it's a google away. And she's just written a really in-depth post about it, so there's no need to be obnoxiously dismissive about something that might be "big as life" when she links it back to you. It's not her job to educate you, but she did, however she wanted to.

if, for instance, a man had said this to you after you'd wasted your time explaining rape culture or abortion or any other aspect of sexism to him, how would you feel ?

just wondering

So sorry that I offended your delicate sensibilities.

I have no idea what you expected to accomplish by saying this but you failed.

Unless you wanted as many people as possible to know that you're being a huge asshole, in which case, brava, brava, success!
