Thank you for posting this. I have some friends on Facebook who obsessively post the video (or a parody of it?) on their walls. I've never watched it because I was afraid of what it entailed. But I intend on sharing the OP on my wall for everyone to read.
I love the internet until bullshit like this happens. :\
The other day my roommate asked me if I'd heard the "Window Rape Song" because it's just sooo funny. I said "You know his sister was actually almost raped and that 'song' was an actual frustrated interview he gave in response, right?" She was just like "......"
I have watched the parody video, the actual video and interviews with him after the incident. He and his family, according to him, "love" the song. He is incredibly pleased with himself over it, trust me. Of course this article is completely valid regardless, but he and his family are definitely very happy with the outcome and he makes it obvious.
IA with her assessment, and while I admit that I enjoyed some of the musical renditions (mostly because I admired Antoine's personality/he didn't hold anything back), there are a lot of problematic elements to his "success". I really think it's gross how people actually laughed at the situation or were like LOLOLOL DEM BLACK FOLKS but I can't say that I'm surprised.
