Many of his songs are appallingly sexist. So why is feminist Julie Bindel such a fan of Snoop Dogg's music - and what did she make of his set

Heh, I'm a Jew who listens to Neofolk and plays it too (though I don't consider the early artists to be Neofolk but Neofolk to be the followers who copied the style, but that's genre wanking that isn't really relevant). So does that make me the queen of problematicness?
Neofolk is an offshoot of goth and industrial, and lots of the artists used Nazi and Fascist imagery, especially in the early days. There's also lots of Heathenism/Paganism and idealising pre-modern Europe, which can be problematic as well.
The groups that started it were Current 93, Death in June and Sol Invictus. Most of the original artists moved away from that, but there are lots of copy cat bands, many of whom moved away from the Nazi stuff.
If you want. :-) I haven't been playing out with them as much lately, due to work concerns and lack of pet sitting (yeah, boring reason, but oh well). If you saw a gig with a red-headed violinist wearing glasses, it was probably me. (The other current violinist Aelish is blonde and a lot thinner than me, so we're easy to tell apart.)

Most of the people in the scene aren't Nazis, but there are some bands and fans who outright are. I don't listen to those bands, and there are loads of fans who are antifascist and antiracist who hate that side of the scene.
(Note: I'm somewhat biased as I'm married to the singer of Sol Invictus and play with them sometimes, and we met through that scene, though it was only starting to be called neofolk at that time.)
