Sochi looks to the 2013 SportAccord Conference
Sochi 2014 has today confirmed that it is seeking to host the 2013
SportAccord Conference, the leading annual international sport business conference that brings together 1,500 leading representatives from across international sport.
The event encompasses the Congress and General Assemblies of over one hundred International Sports Federations and their related Associations.
The decision confirms an offer to host the event made by Sochi 2014 President and CEO, Dmitry Chernyshenko to SportAccord organizers at the 2010 edition of SportAccord recently completed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, Sochi 2014 President and CEO said: “We would be delighted to host such a significant event, an occasion that brings together so many of our partners from the Olympic and sports world.
“Holding SportAccord 2013 in Sochi would provide a wonderful opportunity to invite the sporting world to Sochi only a year ahead of the Games and to have the chance to demonstrate further the strength of Sochi as a major sporting destination.
“With the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games just a year away, SportAccord would allow for an early glimpse of our welcome to the world. By then, we will be making the final preparations for the Games.”
The 2011 edition of SportAccord will be held in London, England one year before the city hosts the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The venue for the 2012 edition of SportAccord has yet to be announced.
source I thought this was interesting. Hope you all don't mind me posting it. I have a few more posts that I'm working on. I keep getting side-tracked though. I've been working on one since yesterday morning and haven't gotten anything done even though I've made and posted others, hahaha.
