DC Aftermath Post?

Apr 22, 2010 11:00

I thought it might be helpful to have yet another Olympians & Paralympians invade Washington post for any new pictures and articles that emerge today.

Plus I found a forty minute long video of Shani's "exercise is awesome" visit with little kids.

I don't know if it makes sense to embed a 40 minute video, it seems like something that would be better to open in a new window or something. XD But I will embed it just in case, and if you want it the link is above.

OK, so Heath Calhoun didn't win any medals, but his story blows everyone else's out of the water. XD They're all so cute, though! It feels like maybe they didn't have that much opportunity to prepare/memorize their talks? Very charming.

Shani, by the way, is AMAZING. He neeeeeeds to be on children's television, I don't even know. He's so good here, definitely the most comfortable.

HE TALKS ABOUT FROZONE. HE ALSO TALKS ABOUT HIS SILVER MEDAL YOU MUST WATCH IT. (He also says I'm too old to start exercising. Thanks Shani. XD) (He's so right, though.)

I have a massive girlcrush on Alana Nichols, so I have to point out that she is being way too modest in that video. She said she won "one of these" and pulls out her gold medal, right? She won two gold medals, a silver and a bronze - just at this Olympics! Plus a gold medal in wheelchair basketball at the Beijing Summer Olympics. And she only took up alpine skiing in a serious way after 2008. Because, as she says in this adorable video podcast thingie, she thought it would be less taxing than basketball. XD

Anyway, in addition to being a ridiculously good athlete, she's also beautiful and adorable, so here's a picture of her at the event:

So yeah, go nuts sharing other pictures and articles and tweets and what have you! It's kind of the last hurrah of the Vancouver Olympics, I feel, so we should milk it for all it's worth.

Massive photo gallery of people at the opening reception!
