GUYS. GUYS. I'M REALLY EXCITED FOR THIS FILM. But I'm always saddened by the tragic lack of Sam Rockwell. He never seems to be in any of the promotion for it. D: I guess it's because his character probably isn't in this scene BUT STILL.

And clearly Tony loves Pepper. End of story.

this is the definition of epic, video, marvel loves tony stark, &jon favreau, iron man, &gwyneth paltrow, &scarlett johansson, tony and pepper are made of win

i have a feeling sam'll have a decent role either in this film or the next, the character he plays is a pretty BIG char~ so i feel you on the lack of him in the promotional stuff.

Oh no, I know he's a big character which is part of the reason why I'm sad he's not getting as much publicity as he should (plus Sam Rockwell is awesome). His character hasn't really been present so far in the marketing of this sequel so maybe he'll have a relatively "minor" but important role in this film (tied with Whiplash, teaming together against Tony, etc. but clearly Whiplash is being painted as the lead villain) and have a bigger one in the third?

i hope its a build-up to hammer's significance in the franchise. though, they've been clever with the dropping hints of who and what is to come for this franchise. 2 hint drops in the iron man film itself for whiplash (they aren't obvious hints, but they're too convenient now, with knowing whiplash is present in this one). and they've made a few hints to the mandarin - though you never know how they'll play that out.

i'm kinda glad that iron monger was sort of supposed to represent some aspects of the crimson dynamo and i do wonder if whiplash is as well... and they're just going to build hammer up to what he should be by have focus on whisplash for this.

sidenote: i agree that sam rockwell is epicsauce.

jumping in to say that from what i've read on wikipedia, hammer's purpose in iron man 2 is pretty much as a screwball, comic-relief villain. the direct quote (from rockwell himself) is "plucky comic relief, but he’s got a little bit of an edge." honestly i'm not sure how i feel about this -- hammer is a very formidable rival in the comics, so i'm a little disappointed to see they'll be bringing him in this direction.

as for the mandarin, they dropped so many hints in the first movie (the "ten rings" and the ten ring's leader's obsession with genghis khan being the most obvious), and he's been such a recurring villain in the comics i have a hard time believing he won't be the villain in the third movie. i for one am really looking forward to that.

gfdjkhgf fffff! i hope they don't turn hammer into a one-film-comedic-villian-for-plot-devices. that would suck so hard. especially given that rockwell is such a good actor is kind of epicsauce (even if the character is a bad guy).

oh my dear (comment hijacker D<) , i agree with looking forward to things with the mandarin being in the third film. it would be really interesting to see how they play all that. also, here's hoping jon favreau is still at the wheel for it.

also, here's hoping jon favreau is still at the wheel for it.

I'd be so sad if he wasn't but I really doubt that given how in love he seems with all of these.

But yeah, I completely agree about Hammer hopefully not being treated like that. For one, Hammer's a pretty great rival and as you said, Sam Rockwell could completely rock it.

seriously? i don't know if i would be able to watch the third one if favreau wasn't in the driver's seat for it. he loves the franchise, the story, the character. and you can just tell he not only want to do things right, but he wants to be sure fans are as pleased as they can be.

though, with anything like this - it's hard to please everyone. frankly, i love what he's done with bringing iron man as a story to life.

I agree but I highly doubt he'd ever give up on this franchise because of how much he loves it. Which is partly why I still have hope for Hammer because I can't believe Favreau would ever intentionally ruin a character like that.

It is hard to please everyone but I agree that what he's done so far is just phenomenal. I'm still in love with the first film and I can't wait to have more. He has such dedication and passion to this franchise, as does the cast, so I have hope.

yeah, i'd be really upset if they did that. 8| considering how often and how seriously hammer's brought tony down, it'd be such a serious downplay of the character that i'd be almost offended, i think. idk, though, jon favreau really does love the series and the characters, so i find it hard to belief he would deliberately do this to one of them.

(THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR HIJACKING MY COMMENTS B|) i was so excited when i noticed all the mandarin hints, ahaha. there is some serious foreshadowing, so far.

Really? D: I personally don't know what I'm supposed to think about that either. They could shape Hammer up to be an extremely intriguing and formidable rival for Tony. He wasn't ever really someone I saw as a "comic relief". And Sam Rockwell would be perfect at pulling off the edge of Hammer and the dynamic between him and Tony could be really interesting to play out. I'm still excited for Rockwell and his part but this isn't the way I was hoping or expecting they'd take Hammer.

Yeah, it'd be kind of a shocker, I think, if the Mandarin wasn't a villain at some point. He's such a presence in the Iron Man franchise as one of Tony's biggest villains so I think they'll have to. Obviously we'll have Black Widow in the third film and hopefully an edgier, more villain-esque Hammer. And then probably Mandarin. I have to say I'm looking forward to it as well. :D

Yeah, well, with the new news we now know, I guess we have some reason to be worried with what they're going to do with Hammer. He has so much potential, especially with such a epicly talented portrayer, so I really hope they have him as somewhat of a comic relief but at least develop him into an edgier villain by the end for the third film.
