Here is some Downey news for my fellow Downey lovers...
Jon Favreau has explained why he walked away from the Iron Man franchise.
The filmmaker, who directed both of the Robert Downey Jr. superhero films, this week informed Marvel that he won't be returning to helm a third instalment in the comic book saga. He will instead work on family movie Magic Kingdom for Disney.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times about his departure, Favreau admitted that he was looking for a new project that "lights a fire" and "isn't loaded with built-in expectations".
"Marvel and I both came of age together,” Favreau said of his experience on Iron Man. “The years that we shared were a pivotal experience. Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] has a firm grasp on the many franchises and how they all interweave and I am happy that I had the opportunity to establish the world that these characters can now play in.
"Iron Man has given me tremendous opportunities and Kevin and I are enjoying a lot of momentum in our careers thanks to the Iron Man films. I look forward to seeing what others can do playing in the same world."
Iron Man 3 is due to open in cinemas on May 13, 2013.

Gwyneth Paltrow has said she won’t be appearing in Marvel Pictures superheroes mash-up The Avengers. Paltrow played Iron Man love interest Pepper Potts in both the 2008 and 2010 movies. But she has said that nobody has approached her regarding an appearance in Joss Whedon's forthcoming comic adaptation, which pairs up many characters from the Marvel Universe.
Paltrow told
Reelzchannel.com: “No Pepper. I think it's a 'For sure'. I think they're starting shooting soon. They probably would have asked me by now."
Previously Whedon promised that Scarlett Johansson's character Black Widow wouldn't be the only 'powerful' female featuring in The Avengers. There's no word as yet who else he plans to have in the film.

Here's a mystery or, more specifically, a rumor worth investigating.
While shooting a horsedrawn buggy scene in London for the second Sherlock Holmes movie, the National Enquirer claims Robert Downey Jr. was "badly injured" after his costar Jude Law jerked up his whip handle, hit Downey in the eye and "knocked him flat."
The injury supposedly caused Downey to "howl" in pain as medics applied ice bags while Law kept "whining apologies." According to the tabloid's source, the scene was reshot hours later after the "swelling had subsided."
Well, after doing a little detective work, we found out that this is...
So false!
E! News was informed that the rumor of an on-set injury is simply "not true" after a call to Downey's rep.
Something the Enquirer obviously failed to do. But, why bother, when you've got such reliable sources, right?
