Ok, let's see if I can majorly screw up my first post here...here's to hoping, right?
If you saw the movie, cheers for you, because you got to skip Stephen King's weakest point: description. Also, his other weakest point: endings. This is one of the few times where the movie was actually BETTER, not only because of Anthony Hopkins, but because the directors thought that maybe the end should have some sort of coherancy and should NOT turn out to be related to the Dark Tower series.
I don't care if you're Stephen King, it is NEVER ok to write your own fanfiction. That's just insecure.
Also, assuming that everyone everywhere has read certain works of literature and seen certain movies is a good way to alienate your audiance. He makes frequent referances to "Lord of the Flies," which most people read in high school, but not everyone worshipped nor fully understood. "Midwitch Cuckoos," later turned into the film "Village of the Damned," is also heavily reff'ed. Anyone unfamiliar with these or fuzzy on the details is SOL as far as "Hearts in Atlantis" is concerned.
Seriously, see the film.
That's my ONTD.
