Nathan Fillion is best known for starring in "Firefly" and
ABC's "
Castle", but now the super-popular actor is lending his face to a new cause -- reading. The actor is now on board the Kids Need to Read campaign for the American Library Association.
In his poster (which you can see right
here), the sci-fi star is standing in front of a dark background with rings while reading The Softwire: Awakening on Orbis 4 (which is written by KNTR founder PJ Haarsma).
With this campaign, Fillion is doing something that you don't necessarily see many actors do these days -- actually trying to get kids to turn off the TV for a few minutes. While all mediums can be an effective form of stimulating the imagination in the right setting, there's not much else like completely immersing yourself in the world of a book.
