Former rocker finds new challenge
Frontman of '90s band Headstones has starring role in Durham County

Hugh Dillon is not easily shaken. He's familiar with the power of words on a page; he has an ear for music and the soul of a rock 'n' roll traveller.

After two seasons of playing hard-living, morally conflicted, suburban Ontario police superintendent Mike Sweeney in the Gemini Award-winning Durham County, and three seasons of playing Toronto police's man-of-action Ed Lane in Flashpoint, there wasn't much that could affect Dillon on a deep, meaningful level.

Then he read the four hours of Laurie Finstad-Knizhnik's scripts for the new season of Durham County. What he saw gave him pause and made him look hard in the mirror. Every so often during an actor's career, there comes that one role, that one special moment that defines that actor as a performer, and will be with him long after the lights dim and the cameras are switched off.
