I have great appreciation for the fact that Kris snuck in a Bob Dylan song during Grand Ole Opry week. Boy knew what the fuck he was doing! Also, I think this is probably my most favorite pure vocal from the whole season. It was gorgeous.

I'm pretty sure this was when I truly fell in love with Kris. Such a beautiful song, and he did so well by it.

SO. FREAKING. GORGEOUS. This was why I started to care about Kris. colorsblend had the studio version embedded in her very first Kris picspam, and I fell in love when I listened to it. That was when I first decided to watch the show. And the rest is history. <3

Such a pure vocal, excellent outfit (mmmmmm pants), the last we see of clean-shaven!Kris during a performance, right? SO AMAZING THAT HE MADE SIMON COWELL STUTTER. Heh.

I don't remember watching this because back then, I kept missing the first 15/20 mins of the show and Kris was second here I think.

I love the studio though and I've rewatched it and, damn. It was good.

This was one of the most clever song choices he made, and also a real announcement that he wasn't the sort of singer people might assume he was. He went out of his way to not sing an actual country song, but instead sneak some Dylan in there-and you know that's how he thinks about it, not as a Garth Brooks song (really!). And it was the first time I thought about how restrained his performance style is. Many performers would not have been able to sit their ass on the stool for the whole song-they would have wanted to get up half way through for the big notes. Kris did neither, and was better off for that.

(note: I am totally in danger of completely repeating myself!)
