Also, I disagree that there's soooooooooooooo much more to talk about in regards to dancing (vs. singing).
Obviously Nigel sees Idol more as a popularity contest (the winner can be autotuned later whereas a dancer HAS to be that good on their own).
It really bothers me that he makes it sound like singing is this purely natural talent that can't be refined and that it's obvious to America, without legit criticism from the judges, who is really ~in it to win it~. And even if you completely disregard the vocal, almost all of the contestants could've used some help making their performances less cheesy and more of a moment.
That's one of main points being bought up in the comments, that maybe there should be a judge there to judge the critical aspects of a performance. So James would have been told that he can't sung in tune once he starts running around the audience so he should not be doing that as much, or Lauren would be told about why shes's having breath control problems and what she should be doing to work on that.
That would be a whole lot more interesting.
I find it really interesting that in past season contestants would come off the show and be fairly self-critical and honest about both the good and bad performances and what they could have done better/different. It kind of says something about what is happening this season that a lot of these guys are coming off thinking that -to qoute one of my least favourites- they were "too perfect" for America.
Not these judges! It is clear they wouldn't pick the worst in the B3 but rather their least favourite. And we *still* would have had Scotty and Lauren in the Top 2 anyway. Could see that coming from Top 24.
I don't like the save because I think that maybe people are a little less likely to vote for their favourite if the save is still in play.
NOOO. I mean it wouldn't be the worst thing to ever happen, but it would be so much better if they capped voting first before they took away total viewer control.
