Click to viewHaley Reinhart "What Is and What Should Never Be" - Fabulous! I think this song is one of my favorite studio recordings that Haley has done all year. Her voice just fits the song. Sometimes these studio recordings just sounds like something made for American Idol, but other times they sound like songs that could be like legitimately made and produced in real life. This is definitely one of those recording. LOVE IT.
Lauren Alaina "If I Die Young" - lol lol lol So when it was first announced that she was singing this song, for some reason I thought it was the Billy Joel song "Only the Good Die Young" which would have been HILARIOUS. Alas, no. It was this song. Which was fine. Yay mid-tempo country. She hits the notes which is good, I guess. Idk. This just makes me feel absolute nothing.
Scotty MCCreery "Amazed" - Meh. Sappy country song is sappy. It's ok I guess. I don't know that there's much more to say about it. I feel like this song is the country equivalent of "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing"- sappy and overplayed.
This week really made me miss James Durbin and I wasn't even all that huge of a fan of him. But I think he definitely brought something to the show that was missing this week. Or maybe it's just because I don't really get country music because 6 country songs last night was about 4 too many for me. I'm kind of glad they only produced one song per contestant this week because I wasn't looking forward to having to listen to all that country.
