Wait, what. I thought they couldn't sign any deals until after the tour or something?

That's what I thought too which makes me frown a little but I guess I'm happy for her nonetheless. =/

They changed labels from Sony to Interscope so they basically have first dibs to sign any of the idols. It's just that Sony used to wait until Idol is over to start working on it or even announcing it I think.

That, and she's a plant! LOL

TY, BB! EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE NOW.

With all of the changes this season (and changes to the changes they were planning), I couldn't keep up at all, lol.

I thinknthe basic summary is: once you audition, Jimmy Iovine owns you and can do as he pleases with you.

My understanding is that 19 (which I believe Jimmy Iovine is part of) has first refusal, until sometime in August/Sept, but that doesn't mean they can't sign someone before the end, once they are out of competition. Pretty sure that whatever this deal is, it is through 19.

I am not a music industry person, but I have been avidly following the how-this-stuff-works for several years now. So I could certainly be wrong, but that's how I read this news.

I am very glad for her!

The winner and runner up are almost always signed before the tour starts. For the NINTH place finisher to be signed and working on an album before the season ends...shady.
