VIDEO: 'Idol' Top 10 reunion (minus one),
jam session at 'Dream' house

Our last night with the Idols was a dizzying affair as nine Season 9-ers converged on the “
If I Can Dream" house for a post-finale hang high up in the hills (runner-up Crystal Bowersox bowed out because she wasn’t feeling well). They had just wrapped “
Larry King Live,” and though all of them looked utterly exhausted upon arrival (especially just-declared winner Lee DeWyze), the group seemed to get a second wind once reunited around the piano.
On the set list for the informal Friday-evening jam session: Kings of Leon’s
“Use Somebody,” performed by Lee, who showed he knew his way around a keyboard; Rihanna's
“Umbrella,” led by Katie Stevens, with an assist by Siobhan Magnus and Didi Benami; and Alicia Keys’
“No One,” featuring Andrew Garcia, who sang the same song (with Katie)
during Hollywood week. Siobhan also took on "Whataya Want From Me,” which complimented a comment she made during the Twitter session earlier, declaring, “I am Adam Lambert," then broke out the octave-defying wail that was, in a word, stupefying (and could be heard clear as day through the ceiling to the floor above). Meanwhile, in Justin Gaston’s room, Michael Lynche and Casey James attempted to re-create the magic of their Top 4 duet, with mixed results (see video below), while former Top 24 contestant Alex Lambert continued to impress with his super-powerful pipes on the classic “Lean on Me.”

After dinner (taco night!) and a fair amount of tasty sangria, all sat down for a Twitter session and answered questions from fans. What did we learn on this go-round? That Lee was in a zombie movie, for starters! One that his friend filmed as a project back when he was 17. “So, in a nutshell, if Lee wasn’t cool enough already, that kind of seals the deal,” Siobhan professed. On the opposite side of cool, we also heard about the 10 finalists' upcoming trip to New York City. where, in the words of Michael Lynche, “we're going to eat our way out of a pretzel.” Indeed, the promotion for the newest M&Ms twist, a performance from within a giant pretzel M&M, will go down in Manhattan on Tuesday (find details
here).
Big Mike also revealed that, back during duets week, he went to Casey’s apartment to practice one night and was greeted by the singing cowboy wearing nothing but a scarf and a guitar. And in other “Idol” memories, Lee gave props to Carrie Underwood for gifting all of the Top 10 with engraved Tiffany dog tags, Katie described meeting Janet Jackson at the finale and “bowing at her feet -- literally,” and Aaron Kelly showed his appreciation for fans who sent a poster of him that was constructed with lyrics -- cool! Also concerning Aaron, whom the girls pronounced the season’s “biggest stud,” he’s apparently planning to ask Allison Iraheta out! “Are you gonna?” asked Siobhan, unconvinced. “It’s news to me.”
Of course, all eyes were on Lee, who clearly hadn’t had enough time to process his victory, what with the insane schedule the Idols were on. “I’m just kind of taking it in,” he said. “It sunk in as much as it can right now. … There’s been lots of nonstop stuff.” Curiously, Lee didn’t seem to have much of an appreciation for what’s going on with his pre-“Idol” music. Mention of having
reached the Billboard Heatseekers chart with the album “Slumberland,” released by indie label
Wuli Records prompted little more than a blank stare, and when asked about potential profits from his previous releases, Lee shrugged and said, “That’s not my thing right now.” Indeed, having just
signed with RCA Records, it will be no time before he’s working on a proper major-label debut. Other than that, Lee says he’ll be “happy to be on a real stage doing a real show.” Spoken like a true future rock star.
Other noteworthy moments included Didi’s ear-piercing shriek at the sight of a bug in the kitchen; Casey's heated foosball match with Aaron, preceded by an intense thumb-wrestling match with Big Mike; an uncharacteristically quiet, perhaps pensive Tim Urban helping with the dishes; and, though it goes without saying, all that fantastic music. Check out some song snippets below and let us know: Whom will you miss most from Season 9?
