Article 'Idol' Pays Visit To Seton H.S. Kris Allen Was Reward For School's Fundraising Efforts
CINCINNATI -- A local high school was rewarded Thursday for raising thousands of dollars for breast cancer research.
Seton High School received a visit from "American Idol's" Kris Allen. The musician sang songs and answered questions from students. Allen's visit to Seton High was Seton students' reward for winning a Q102 challenge to raise $5,000 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. "Our kids just went all out. Raising money any way you can possibly imagine," said Sister Tricia Cruise, president of the school.
Students not only met the challenge, they doubled it raising $10,000. The kids said the cause itself was reason enough for them to raise the money, but having Allen stop by made the victory even sweeter. "I'm excited. I really am. He won 'American Idol'. I watched him and he's adorable," said senior Robyn King.
Being at the school Thursday also meant a lot for Allen. Breast cancer awareness is a cause near and dear to his heart. "My aunt had it really bad. And my grandmother, who passed away, just had it. So it's been … it's been definitely something that hits home," said Allen.
Seton High has a history of doing good deeds. "Idol" runner-up David Archuleta visited the school last October after students raised $3,000 in pennies for breast cancer research. Natasha Bedingfield also sang at the school last November.
