Character

Name: Botan
Fandom: Yu Yu Hakusho (manga-verse)
Gender: Female
Age: Looks 17, but is over a thousand years old. It's never explicitly said in canon.
Time Period: Post-canon!
Wing Color: The same shade of blue as her hair.
History: YYH Wiki | Botan Wiki
Personality:
In the beginning of the manga series of Yu Yu Hakusho, it is clearly obvious that even though Botan is the embodiment of "Death", she's not your ordinary guide to the spirit world. In fact, she's the opposite of what people would usually believe her to be. Instead of being gloomy, evil, or even evil, Botan is actually happy-go-lucky and quite the cheerful type.

Even though most of the time, she isn't used for "serious business", she is also quite intelligent about many things, such about the Spirit World and the Human World. Botan knows approximately when someone is about to die or even if they are actually dead. It's in her blood...if she had any, that is!

For the first arc where Botan was helping out Yusuke in order to revive Yusuke, she kept a lot of secrets from him, and she's naturally good at making quick, believable lies. However, since Botan is a huge blabbermouth, she slips up a lot of secrets midway - though she never gives away the whole thing. She is also quite a mysterious character that nobody knows much about, but her chipper attitude and way to change the subject makes all of that way better, right? Right.

Botan, personally, doesn't exactly hate anything. However, she doesn't like the fact that she is, in truth, a blabbermouth, and because of that, she tends to slip up on things that she doesn't like to do. It's plain fact. However, she does dislike it when someone or something attempts to meddle with either the human or the spirit world. I'm looking at you bad guys, yeah?

How does Botan think, though? That's quite a simple answer. Her train of thought is basically what occurs at that very moment, that very second. She also thinks about what the others are doing and doesn't pay much attention to herself too much unless she is in dire danger. It's others before herself when it comes to this. After all, it's kind of impossible to die when you're a guide to the spirit world.

During most of the series, Botan's a secondary character, but she does show up several times in cameos. She's considered to have a whole bunch of "spunk" and sometimes imitates people in order to explain what has happened. She even pretends to be innocent by acting like a cat, but it's quite obvious that she isn't. Unless you're actually that dense.
Strengths:
Physical: Botan can one-hit KO people with a bat, as seen during the time where a majority of the people were taken over by parasites. Also, due to the fact that Botan isn't exactly human, it's technically impossible to kill her. She's already a spirit guide, so why should she die again? Another thing that she can do is healing. It takes a lot out of her, but Botan's quite strong-willed! She won't let things like that take her down that easily.

Mental: She's a quick thinker. On the spot things are actually quite good, as seen when she attempted to explain why she was hanging out with Yusuke so much. The truth is, making up a long story is easy for her. Especially when she says it oh-so-quickly!

Botan is also creative when it comes to these stories, so she'd actually be a very good storyteller. Did I also mention that she's quite intelligent about Death? She actually has a little book that states everything about a person until their death, and she enjoys using it, though she would never say anything about it.

Another thing to note is that she knows everything about Spirit Detective gadgets.

Emotional: Botan is peppy! She is optimistic and doesn't show fear very often. In fact, she hardly shows any true anger to anybody in the series unless you're...well, plain evil. She loves people and animals and everything can you tell that she's not an evil person?

Weaknesses:

Physical: Botan...is frail. Very, very frail. She can't take beatings and fights or else she'll go down. Which was seen against the many people who were taken over by parasites. Even though she can't "die", she can get hurt and feel pain. Also, when she uses her powers for a long, long time, it wears her down, even though it's not right away. This was shown when she attempted to get rid of the third eye that Keiko was supposed to get but it never happened, thankfully.

Mental: Don't tell her secrets. At all. She talks a lot and slips up a whole bunch of things that wouldn't be said normally, even though she manages to cover it up. A good example would be Hiei's sister being Yukina. However, characters may notice that she's hiding something and ask her, but it's most likely that she'll change the subject on the spot, especially if you're not dangerous in real life. However, if she knows you're dangerous, she might tell you! Through a filter!

Emotional: Ha, ha. Ironically, she doesn't like it when people dies when they're not supposed to. Or when people are trying to be forced to die, like a little kid almost did. Also, since Botan thinks about others before herself, and sometimes doesn't pay much attention to what occurs around her, so she's quite easy to surprise.
