Hey.

Things have been really interesting and full on the last few days and weeks. Played some shows with Bigstrongbrute, got a lot of good reactions which was nice. The Ric's show was crazy, this producer guy wants us to make a record with him. We got a really odd but ultimately praising review on the Brisbane blog Before Hollywood that said I was like a cross between Johnny Cash and Nick Cave or something, which was strange but cool. They didn't really know what to call us, and were just really confused, but liked it. I like that. They were like "oh, some was country, but some was noise, but there was a gospel song, and oh no im riding a cheese horse" so that was cool.

On Tuesday, Nadia and I went to my parents property at Mt Glorious for the night, which was awesome. We watched heaps of Curb Your Enthusiasm (I got her hooked), recorded some songs, went for a drive down the other side of the mountain to the look-out over Wivenhoe Dam and watched the Dixie Chicks documentary Shut Up & Sing which was awesome. It was fun night.

Then on Wednesday, I nearly finished mixing the BigStrongBrute record with Todd, though I'm considering taking more time on it myself and mixing it a bit more. It's sounding good, but I'm not completely happy with it yet. I'll have some copies for people in Melbourne next week and maybe some at the January 5th show at the Troubadour (more on that later).

Then on Thursday, back at Todd's, I tracked all the drums for the Academy EP and album, which was good. Nailed it all in one day. The records will be really cool I think, and out in February.

Played another BSB show at Richard's house on Friday night. That was pretty average, but we had fun.

Then on Saturday everything went strange. Nadia got very sick and a lot happened with that, and has had to postpone her trip back home to Venezuela from tomorrow at 8am to early January. It's great to have her around for longer, but it's quite scary at the moment. I'm just really glad it didn't happen 48 hours later while she would have been on a 20 hour flight to Los Angeles. We'll see what happens with that but I went to see her tonight and it was awesome.

So, stressed out (I couldn't visit her at hospital) I stayed in and watched the election which was very exciting. A stunning result. Nice to see Queenslanders get all parochial and back their fellows statesmen so emphatically. 10 seats, nobody expected that. Good result. A shame for John Howard that his most personable and human address was his very last. A nice send off though I thought. A lot of dignity.

Today I just visited Nadia and not much else.

But, I have a whole lot planned, I think.

+ Tomorrow I have to do Yeo's press pack and all that stuff to make him famous.

+ On Wednesday I'm going to Sydney over night, as I have an interview Wednesday morning to get my American Visa.

+ Next weekend Im going to Melbourne for that week for shows with Tragic/Athletic. Three, at Bar Open, Pony and Deago studios.

+ There will be one last BSB show before I go away (I think it'll be the only one but not sure yet) at The Troubadour Friday January 5th with All And Sundry, maybe Greg Charles and another. Hopefully you can make it and maybe we'll have a party. Any money we get from the door or from CD sales will go to Nadia to cover her cancelled flight so please come.

+ After that it's just mixing and recording and preparing to hopefully go away (my flight is January 9th, assuming all goes to plan). Montclair is a beautiful place; a really leafy college town just across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan. I'll be staying with an American, and Austrian, and a Japanese student.

Oh, and to just clarify, the new Tragic/Athletic EP 'BRAKES' is finished and was meant to come out next week, but won't now come out until July next year. We are putting it off until we all re-converge in Brisbane. I think we'll then go about getting unemployed, living together, going to bush to write a whole record, releasing Brakes, doing a big long tour and playing lots and then seeing who wants to put out the album.

Wow, that's what happens when you don't blog in ages, you just self-indulge. That's what up! Hey!
