"Cha Cha Cha.. It's Alright!"
The Tri-State Carni-Chooch was an excellent success in any ways. We are going to push to hold next year's event in Brisbane, even bigger with more bands and more shit to do! I got totally hooked on the veagan hot dogs by the second day and decided I'd just run the stall for a while so Sam and I just kept on eating them. I think my favourite band of the whole weekend was Fabulous Diamonds from Melbourne, who headlined Sunday night. The first time I saw them was at our very first show at Visible Ink in 2005 and they were ok. Then I saw them towards the end of last year at the Quebec 7" launch at Bar Open, and they were great, but this time it was even better. Excellent use of beats and delayed sax plus keys, it all came together so well. Quebec also ruled the house on Saturday night and if you search You Tube for them you can find Rohan's filming of Sarah Says We Didn't Miss Much from that set. Rohan filmed one song of pretty much every act and is going to compile it as a DVD!!
I haven't recorded with Todd in a long time due to having no time at all, but next month Olly's parents are going to Vietnam, so we are goin to attempt to write and record a new tragic/athletic studio album with Todd in that time with guest performances and pop songs and dancing and piano all in an attempt to do something we've never considered doing before...just to fuck with it...no use repeating ourselves. It probably will be very difficult given schedules/work/broken legs but we'll try and do as much as we can. We aren't playing for a while due to schedules/work/broken legs and this stuff probably couldn't be replicated live...It's exciting...we've never taken this approach before but I'm very keen to see what can be done and try and end up with something completed different from what someone might want/expect from that band.
For any of you who have been to my house and are familiar with it - WE SOLD IT! Today I went to the house we have just bought and will be moving into around late May/early June. It's in Toowong...I still can't believe I'm moving, but them's the breaks.
Lastly - I'm thinking of driving down to Byron Bay on Sat April 21st for the My Disco show at The Great Northern, just caus I'll miss their Brisbane show. Anyone keen to join me and come for the ride????
